Patient Care and Therapy Services
At Zamini Psychotherapy, our services are designed to support emotional safety, clarity, and meaningful change. We offer specialized therapy for individuals, couples, families, and those impacted by trauma, all grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Rather than focusing only on symptoms, our work addresses the emotional patterns that shape how people relate to themselves and others. Each service is delivered with care, respect, and clinical depth, creating space for healing that feels structured, supportive, and deeply human.
Couple Therapy
Couple therapy focuses on understanding emotional patterns that create distance, conflict, or disconnection in relationships. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy, we help partners identify unmet emotional needs, repair trust, and rebuild secure emotional bonds. This work supports couples navigating communication breakdowns, betrayal, emotional withdrawal, recurring conflict, and life transitions.
Family Therapy
Family therapy provides a supportive space to improve emotional communication, reduce tension, and strengthen connection among family members. Sessions focus on emotional dynamics within the family system, helping parents, children, and caregivers better understand one another. This approach supports families experiencing conflict, stress, grief, trauma, or challenges related to emotional regulation and attachment.
Refugee & Trauma Support
This service offers trauma-informed, emotionally focused care for individuals and families impacted by displacement, war, loss, and chronic stress. Therapy prioritizes emotional safety and stabilization while gently addressing trauma-related patterns such as hypervigilance, emotional numbness, grief, and fear. Sessions move at a pace that respects lived experience and cultural context.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy supports people navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, identity concerns, trauma, and life transitions. Our work is LGBTQ+ affirming and inclusive, offering a safe and respectful space for all identities. Emotionally Focused Therapy helps clients understand emotional responses, strengthen self-connection, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
Take the First Step Toward
Emotional Well-being
Couple Therapy
Couples therapy at Zamini Psychotherapy focuses on strengthening the emotional bond between partners and helping couples move out of painful cycles of conflict, distance, and misunderstanding. Many couples come to therapy feeling disconnected, unheard, or emotionally exhausted — wanting closeness but not knowing how to reach it.
Rather than focusing only on surface arguments or communication techniques, therapy looks deeper at the emotional patterns that shape how partners relate to one another, especially during moments of stress and vulnerability.
Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) — an attachment-based approach — I help couples identify unmet emotional needs, recognize reactive cycles, and safely express the emotions that are often hidden beneath anger, withdrawal, or frustration.
A Therapist Who Understands Your Lived Experience
As an immigrant therapist who has personally experienced long-term relationships and major life transitions, I deeply understand the emotional and cultural challenges many couples face — especially those navigating immigration stress, cultural expectations, and emotional disconnection.
I offer therapy in English, Farsi (Persian), and Azerbaijani Turkish, allowing couples to express themselves in the language where emotions and attachment needs feel most natural and safe.
This cultural understanding allows therapy to go beyond techniques and truly meet couples where they are.
How EFT Helps Couples Reconnect
Through years of clinical work with couples, I have witnessed how attachment-based therapy creates deep and lasting relational change. EFT supports couples in building emotional safety, strengthening trust, and developing more responsive and compassionate ways of relating.
Couples often experience:
* Improved communication and emotional closeness
* Greater trust and emotional safety
* Reduced conflict and withdrawal
* Deeper emotional connection and intimacy
* Stronger long-term relationship stability

Family Therapy
Family therapy provides a supportive space for families to better understand one another, improve communication, and navigate emotional challenges together.
Families often seek therapy during times of conflict, transition, generational tension, parenting stress, or cultural differences that create misunderstanding or distance.
Every family carries its own emotional history, attachment patterns, and unspoken expectations. When stress increases — whether due to immigration, adolescence, life transitions, or unresolved conflict — these patterns can become more reactive and painful.
My approach to family therapy is grounded in attachment principles and emotionally focused work. Rather than placing blame on any one member, therapy explores the emotional dynamics within the system and helps family members develop empathy, clarity, and healthier ways of relating.
As an immigrant therapist who understands cultural transition firsthand, I recognize how migration can impact family roles, generational expectations, identity development, and communication patterns. The process of adapting to a new country can intensify stress within families — especially between parents and children navigating different cultural realities.
In family therapy, we work toward:
* Improving communication and emotional understanding
* Reducing conflict and reactive cycles
* Supporting parents in strengthening connection with children
* Navigating generational and cultural differences
* Creating a more secure and supportive family environment
Sessions are offered virtually across Canada in a respectful, culturally sensitive, and non-judgmental space.

Refugee & Trauma Support
Refugee and trauma-focused psychotherapy provides a compassionate and supportive space for individuals who have experienced displacement, loss, cultural transition, and psychological distress related to migration and life adversity.
Many refugees and newcomers struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms, grief, identity changes, and the emotional impact of leaving their homeland while adapting to life in a new country. These experiences often affect emotional well-being, relationships, and a person’s sense of safety and belonging.
My clinical work in this area is informed not only by professional training, but also by lived experience.
As an immigrant therapist, I have personally experienced the emotional challenges of migration — the loneliness, uncertainty, cultural adjustment, and the deep process of rebuilding identity in a new land. I understand, on a human level, what it feels like to navigate loss, separation, and the struggle to belong. This journey also helped me develop resilience, self-awareness, and emotional growth, which I now bring into my therapeutic work.
Since immigrating, I have worked extensively with refugees and newcomers, supporting clients through trauma, cultural transition, emotional distress, and the many challenges that accompany resettlement. This experience has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the unique psychological needs of refugee and immigrant communities.
Therapy focuses on helping clients:
* Process trauma and difficult life experiences
* Reduce anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm
* Strengthen emotional regulation and inner safety
* Navigate identity changes and cultural adjustment
* Build resilience and coping skills
* Reconnect with hope, strength, and self-understanding
Sessions are offered in a safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive environment in English, Farsi (Persian), and Azerbaijani Turkish.
Virtual sessions are available across Canada.
IFH coverage is accepted.
Individual Therapy
Individual psychotherapy offers a safe, compassionate space to explore emotions, life challenges, and personal struggles without judgment. Many people seek therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, self-doubt, emotional confusion, or patterns that keep them stuck — even when they truly want to move forward.
My work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an attachment-based approach that helps individuals better understand their emotional world, strengthen inner security, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
What deeply shapes my therapeutic approach is not only professional training, but lived experience.
I have personally navigated major life changes — including immigration, pursuing education in two different fields, and facing periods of fear, uncertainty, anxiety, and postponing important decisions. These experiences helped me develop deeper emotional awareness, resilience, and self-compassion, which now guide my work with clients.
In individual therapy, I support clients in:
* Understanding and regulating overwhelming emotions
* Working through anxiety, fear, and self-doubt
* Building self-confidence and emotional awareness
* Breaking cycles of avoidance and procrastination
* Healing from past experiences and life transitions
* Developing a stronger, more secure sense of self
I also provide affirming and inclusive therapy for LGBTQ+ individuals in a safe and respectful environment. For many years, I have worked with LGBTQ+ clients, supporting them in exploring identity, navigating personal and cultural challenges, and developing greater self-acceptance and compassion. Through therapy, clients are supported in building a healthier relationship with themselves and embracing their authentic identity.
Rather than focusing only on symptom relief, therapy aims to create meaningful emotional change — helping you feel more grounded, confident, and emotionally connected.
Sessions are offered virtually across Canada in a confidential and supportive space.
